Halal Food Bank – Perth hits Instagram!

Halal Food Bank – Perth hits Instagram!

Assalamu alaikum! 2014, the second running year for Halal Food Bank Perth, was the best year we have had as of yet. The generosity, love and support of the Perth community has been overwhelming and is the core motive that pushes our team to keep striving to do what we do. Alhamdulillah! A huge thank you has to go out to our regular donors, volunteers and core team who, alongside their personal and professional commitments, bring their positive energy and provide their excellent services to this project.

Thank You

Our team is setting out new goals and challenges for 2015 as we want to further develop this project in the community and make this year better than any before. Firstly, we are setting to expand our project outreach to more people in need within our community so we can serve a greater population cohort. For this to happen, we are looking for new distributor organisations who are experiencing a high demand of Muslim families in need and are willing to join hands with Halal Food Bank Perth. In addition, to be able to serve more people we will be required to pack more boxes than before which brings us to the second target of packing 75 to 100 boxes every month. In the previous year our goal was 50 boxes a month and with successfully reaching this target in almost all months of 2014, we believe this new target along with the community’s generous donations, will be very much achievable, In Sha Allah.

Moreover, we continually need your assistance in making Halal Food Bank a permanent aid agency within Perth. We are in the lookout for a stable, long-term premise where we can operate from so if you know of anyone that owns an empty personal or business work space which they can lend to this project for free, please get in contact with us. For those of you who don’t own free office space, don’t feel disheartened! We have many other ways you can help us out!! We are hoping to source new collection point locations around Perth so if you are aware of a suitable location that gets a large number of Muslim people visiting regularly and where we can establish a donation box, let us know. Furthermore, the team is always on the lookout for regular volunteers that can take up roles of delivery drivers, collection point representatives or inventory and packing day assistants. If however you are unable to commit to these roles, you can sign up to sponsor a box every month by shopping and donating the food items that are required to make up one Halal Food Bank box.

For more information on how to serve this project get in contact with us via our FB page or call Maryam Khan on 0430 959 260.

InstagramFor those of you that have ‘liked’ us on our Facebook page and enjoy our very awesome posts, you can further keep up to date with the behind the scenes of the project by following us on our new Instagram account @halalfoodbankperth. We have some aspiring photographers within the project that very much enjoy sharing their photographic skills with the world.

Every day with the project presents new opportunities and we are constantly humbled by the charity and kindness of our followers. Without you, we will not have achieved all that we have till this day. Keep supporting us and In Sha Allah we will keep pursuing to serve our people in need. May Allah bless you for your generosity and accept our services. Ameen!

Halal Food Bank goes to Damla College!

Halal Food Bank goes to Damla College!

June 16 – 21 marked Halal Food Bank week at Damla College, located in Ferndale. Over one school week, students and teachers collated Halal non perishable food items to support the project. There was friendly competition between each class with the Year 1 class winning the prize for most number of donations collected. The school collected so many donations infact that we ended up hosting a packing day at the school. Check out pictures on our FB page.

A big thanks to Sr Ruba Hassan for coordinating the activity from start to finish. The Administration, Staff and students were a treat to work with at Damla and we are looking forward to making Halal Food Bank week a permanent fixture at the college.
